Okay, that's a lie -- we hadn't lost it.
It's just that, as it turns out, we're not very good at using it. We use it often enough, that's for sure. But there's a most unfortunate combination of us (mostly me) being sucky at videography and Elaine being extremely uncooperative as soon as we turn the thing on. I mean, she will be babbling and smiling and laughing and pooping gold nuggets, but as soon as we turn on that damn camera, she's suddenly worried about her image. As if we're going to show these videos to her boyfriends someday or something. (Duh.) Maybe she's already smarter than us (likely) or maybe she just likes shiny things that beep, but whatever it is, she can make it hard to get a good bit on tape. We have at least 90 one-minute segments of her looking at the camera with an I'm-not-a-trained-monkey-you-jerk face on. But that face is still hers and that means that even the crappy videos are still fun to look at, for us. But they aren't ideal for sharing on teh intarwebs.
This one is something we got about a month ago (on top of everything mentioned above, I'm also lazy super busy). She had been talking up a storm for the 5 minutes prior to me turning on the camera and, as described above, she broke out her stoicism as soon as she heard the beep. But we were able to coax out a cute little mini-babble. Enjoy!
