We're always going back and forth on whether moving out of the city was a good idea. Especially in the last few days, where the temperatures here in San Rafael have flirted with 100°F, and the city, while also hot, is teeming with people out enjoying the lovely weather.
Last weekend, however, we were psyched to experience our first Youth In Arts' Italian Street Painting Festival, which is not only an outstanding event, but is also held in our downtown, which is a short walk from our house. We were first amazed at the amount of artists - three or four full city blocks are cordoned off and the paintings are jammed in allowing only room enough for a few people to walk between them. As we clearly went from the less polished street painters to the "pros," we were AMAZED at the level of detail these artists can put down on asphalt.
I feel pretty lucky to live in Marin on most weekends, but last weekend
was exceptional. If you live in the area and are in town next year when
the painters come town, I highly recommend a trip up to see it. I've
added a gallery of a few pics I snapped of some of the paintings, and
you can go to the PhotoGallery page to view them.
