We’ve been terrible about posting over the past few weeks, and for that we get a wag of the finger. The good news is it’s because Alison has had a lot of work, lately, and that means that the few hours of free time between dinner and bed (when she might normally have time to write up a blog post) have been spent bringing home the bacon-flavored soy strips. There isn’t really any bad news, unless the five or so people who are subscribed to this site miss getting their Lainey-spam, which we would totally understand. So, to that end …
Elaine hosted her first party today – just a few of her friends to share a cupcake and a sippy cup and recall the highs and lows of the past year. There was a miniature baby mosh pit in the middle of our house and it seemed like everybody enjoyed themselves. We were able to put Lainey’s steadily growing mass of toys to good use, and she even added to that pile.
When it came time to give her the first taste of cake, she was thoroughly unimpressed. It may have been that she just hasn’t had a lot of sugar yet and her little taste buds were overwhelmed (her first bite was all frosting). Or, maybe she was just juiced up on all the attention and didn't feel like eating. Either way, we bet someday, when we show her the video below, she’ll say, “I didn’t like cupcakes? Gosh, I was sooo immature, back then.”
It’s almost impossible for Alison and I to accept, but our baby is about to celebrate the beginning of her SECOND year on the planet. “Time flies” doesn’t quite cut it.
